“It is so good to hear this news. The support you offered me was so important in helping me rebuild my life. It’s great to know that others who have experienced trauma and tyranny at the hands of others will now also be able to receive the support they so desperately need, thanks to these very generous and caring people.”
This was the response from Gloria, a beneficiary of Prisoners of Conscience, when she heard the news that our Hope in a Time of Crisis fundraising appeal has raised over £22,000. Some donations are still coming in and so we hope this figure will increase further over the next few days and weeks.
If you are one of the generous people who donated to the appeal – thank you! You are amazing!
The money raised will enable us to help people who have experienced persecution at the hands of others, all because they made a peaceful stand against human rights abuses.
We can now begin the process of allocating funding to individuals. We always receive many applications and so have strict criteria to ensure that the money reaches those who need it most. We will keep you updated as to our progress so that you can see how your generosity is changing lives.
Mkhaitir is another beneficiary who shared his story as part of the appeal. When he learned about the generosity of our supporters, he said:
“At a time when human rights are increasingly at risk and it can be very dangerous to share personal stories and stand up for what we believe in, it is good to hear that there are so many people who care and want to help. These donations will help transform lives – just as they did my own. Thank you.”
If you didn’t donate to the appeal and would like to do your bit to support people who have made a peaceful stand against human rights abuses, you can make your gift here. Thank you. Your support does make a difference.
