Photography exhibition
“Thank you very much for giving us a glimpse of what life is like under the Mugabe regime. Extremely powerful and should be seen by many.”
“Amazing photos. Thank you for sharing them with us all. Keep having the courage to do this and maybe these people’s suffering will help us to have the courage to stop it all.”
These are just two of the positive comments we received during the second exhibition of the photos at the Woolfson and Tay bookshop, gallery and cafe in Bermondsey, London in March 2011. The original exhibition was held at the Menier Gallery in London in September 2010.
Also, in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture and the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the Secretariat of the Fund organised an art exhibition displaying works of art created by victims of torture, their family members and the organisations that assisted them. We were honoured that some of our Zimbabwean images were chosen to be part of this special exhibition in Geneva.
All of this was made possible thanks to a senior staff photographer at Getty Images who travelled under cover and at great personal risk to South Africa and Zimbabwe in 2009. It enables us to show the reality of the conditions that many of our grant recipients are forced to endure as a result of their persecution.
If you missed any of these exhibitions you can view all of the photos and read the stories here.
We are hoping to take the exhibition to other venues in the future so please sign up for our email news and alerts or join our facebook group to receive information about this and other events.
