Our mission at Prisoners of Conscience is to transform the lives of those who are persecuted, silenced, tortured, or forced to flee their country for upholding and advancing human rights. We won’t stop until human rights are universally upheld and those who defend them are protected. Who’s with us?

Ideas for Fundraising:
Our #RightsRealityCheck campaign is all about raising awareness of basic human rights and freedoms that many of us take for granted. There are so many ways to do this and get sponsored by friends and family:
You could:
Run or walk for freedom
Run/ walk the distance that prisoners of conscience will have to walk to get basic medical supplies, or to seek safety after being persecuted.
Read 10 books during the month of April
More of a bookworm? Challenge yourself to raise awareness for access to education by reading 5 books throughout the month of April.
Host a karaoke night or dance-athon
Get friends and families involved by hosting your very own sing-and-dance! Raise awareness for the freedom of self-expression by dancing (or singing) the night away.
How your fundraising supports us
£50
£50 could cover one month’s rent for a journalist like Juliette (pictured above) living in exile.
£100
£100 could help to reunite children with their families in a safe country after standing up against human rights abuses.
£250
£250 could help cover shelter, food and emergency medical care for a prisoner of conscience who has been tortured and threatened by government forces.
I’d like to support this challenge, but I can’t fundraise…
We understand that fundraising is a commitment and you may be too busy to complete a sponsored activity or host an event. Not to worry! There are still plenty of things you can do to join our April challenge.
Share your experience with the hashtag #RightsRealityCheck
What everyday action can you do that others around the world can’t? Attend a church service? Walk outdoors without your hair covered? Whatever it may be, share on social media with the hashtag #RightsRealityCheck to spread our campaign.
