All around the world, people are persecuted for standing up for their human rights. We are here to help them when they need it most.

Our vision is a world in which prisoners of conscience s are able to live in safety and continue their crucial human rights work – see our charitable objects and theory of change here.

Without us, prisoners of conscience may have nowhere to turn. We make it possible for people to stand up against injustice, inequality and oppression by providing immediate financial and practical support to those in need.

Financial Assistance

We provide rapid financial assistance through grants, offering immediate relief and support for resettlement and requalification during the most critical times.

Our grants alleviate immediate hardship and facilitate family reunion, but our mission goes beyond just addressing urgent needs. We aim to empower our beneficiaries to rebuild their lives and achieve economic independence in countries of safety.

Practical Assistance

We stand by prisoners of conscience not just at their time of greatest need but throughout their journey towards a brighter, independent future. Our ‘package of support’ provides prisoners of conscience with comprehensive practical support, including access to our employability panel and volunteering opportunities to help kickstart their careers when they reach a country of safety.

For prisoners of conscience who remain in danger and extreme hardship in their countries of origin or in interim countries, we have developed a toolkit. This toolkit addresses critical needs, including security, mental health support, financial hardship relief, campaigning and advocacy, and guidance for reaching countries of safety.

“The PoC grant made a huge difference in my life. It was a stepping stone for me to pursue my dreams…It’s not only about pursuing your dreams, but the ability to be able to engage in life-long ambitions also has healing effects from the trauma that I have experienced before that, so that was one of the things that I value the most; it created a sense of self-worth, a sense of being in a safe space where I can exercise my rights as a dignified human being, so that was one of the things that empowered me the most”
