We are delighted to announce that an incredible £47,915 has been raised through the Christmas Big Give campaign this year! To all who donated, we thank you for your vital support.
Knowing that we are in a time of economic uncertainty, your donations are extra special to us. We were overwhelmed by your generosity, and your continued financial support during this tumultuous time. Even though we weren’t quite able to hit our target of £60,000 this year, the total raised will make a life-changing impact for our beneficiaries.
Put simply, if it wasn’t for faithful supporters like you, we wouldn’t exist. We thank you for providing us with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of prisoners of conscience worldwide.
Herbert , a journalist, and human rights defender from Kenya, was able to complete a master’s programme at the University of Leicester last year after receiving two PoC grants. Before this, he was detained and brutally tortured after exposing police violence and human rights violations in his home country. He states that the work of PoC changes lives like his, and ‘gives hope to the hopeless’. This goes to show that the money you have raised provides not only practical and financial assistance, but a hope to those in desperate need, a light in the darkness. And for that, we cannot thank you enough.
